This week's MLB Pitcher of the Week award goes to Joel Pineiro of the Los Angeles Angels.  In his two starts last week, Pineiro was 1-0 with 8 K's, 0 BB's, and a 0.00 ERA. 

Pineiro started the week with an admirable start against ManSpeak Power Ranking's Leader Tampa Bay Rays with 6.1 innings of scoreless, 7-hit ball and did not figure in the decision. 

Against division rival Oakland Athletics on Sunday, Pineiro went the distance for a complete game shutout, allowing only 4 hits in front of the home crowd Angels fans and leading his team to an always important division victory. 

Pineiro has been a measure of consistency in the Angels rotation this season.  After coming over as a free agent from the St. Louis Cardinals, Pineiro was slated as the team's number 4 starter. Relying on a sinker to put up an ERA of 3.71 thus far in 8 starts, Pineiro has managed to put up a 3-4 record.  Pineiro hasn't had it easy though, as he has faced the Yankees and Tigers twice in addition to taking the hill against the Rays last week.  Throughout it all, Pineiro has been and will continue to be key to the Angels climbing out of 3rd place in the AL West, as the team is built on its starting pitching putting together quality starts and keeping the offense and bullpen in the game.
