Chris Pronger is a Thief!

Chris Pronger, probably the biggest reason that the Philadelphia Flyers have been able to make this valient run from last team in the playoffs to the Stanley Cup Finals, has been stealing game pucks at the end of the first two games of the Finals.

Generally, the winning team takes the game puck off the ice, but Pronger has been swiping in and stealing the puck on a regular basis.

Some feel that this shows a lack of sportsmanship.  That it is inconsiderate.

So what!  This is professional hockey.  The NHL.  Get over yourselves.

If you are a Blackhawk fan and you are upset because Chris Pronger is stealing your silly game puck, then you have bigger issues (most likely a Cubs fan too!)

Chicago Blackhawks Red Premier Hockey Jersey by Reebok Select Size: X-LargeRelax, you have a commanding 2 game to zippo lead against a team that basically is crippled.  Watching the Flyers skate in between whistles is painful to watch.  They are hurt.  They are tired.  And they are probably going to be swept.

But Chris Pronger doesn't care!  He is so obsessed about winning, that he is still looking for any edge he can get.  Check out this back and forth with reporters about the incident (thank you to Yahoo! Sports for the quote)
What happened?
"I couldn't hear him, I don't speak gibberish," said Pronger, who picked up a misconduct penalty at the very end and got into it with Eager.
Where's the puck, Pronger was asked.

"It's in the garbage," Pronger replied. "Where it belongs."

You shot a towel at Eager when he complained?

"So what," Pronger replied.

You're collecting pucks now?

"Why not? What's wrong? It's sitting there. What else is gonna happen to it? It's sitting there. Sure, why not. You got a problem with that?"
Are you gonna sell it on eBay?
"I don't know. Apparently, it got him upset. So I guess it worked, didn't it? It's too bad. I guess little things amuse little minds."
And to think that during his time in St. Louis playing defense for the Blues, he was often called soft by the local media.  How things have changed????

If you want to get upset with Chris Pronger, fine.  If you want to hate the Philadelphia Flyers for it though, I think you are crazy.  Few teams in recent history should garner more respect than this team, who have continued to defy odds, overcoming injury after injury and making the miraculous comeback against the Boston Bruins.

The Flyers will probably go down in flames, but at least Pronger is doing everything he can to stop it.

Check out the video of Pronger stealing the puck below.  Again, thanks to Yahoo! Sports for the quote and for the video.

What do you think about Pronger? A leader? A goon? Would you want him on your team?
