Colby Rasmus, MLB Player of the Week

Colby Rasmus is only 23 years old.  In his second year of his Major League career, Rasmus has struggled just like any other 23 year old would playing against grown men with a lot more experience.  He's streaky

The uber-talented Rasmus was on quite a streak during a home stand in St. Louis against division rivals the Milwaukee Brewers and Cincinnati Reds.  Because of his brilliant play, Rasmus is this week's Manspeak MLB Player of the Week!

Rasmus finished the week appearing in six games, going 9 for 18, good for a .500 batting average.  Rasmus also provided pop with 3 home runs and 8 RBI's while scoring 8 runs and swiping a bag.

Albert Pujols St. Louis Cardinals Replica Home Jersey (Large)Rasmus, often compared to injured Cleveland Indians superstar center fielder Grady Sizemore, has seemed to fix some of his struggles.  Very little of the fix had to do anything with his smooth left-handed swing, but instead, by simply getting new, stronger contacts.

While still searching for consistency, Rasmus has displayed notions that its not just his eye-sight that seems to be mature among his years.  While prone to the strikeout, Rasmus is also 13th in the league in walks, quite an accomplishment for a young hitter still trying to find his way.

Rasmus provides the Cardinals with plenty of hope for the future. The past week is gone, and hope only becomes bright as Colby Rasmus is officially this week's Manspeak MLB Player of the Week.

  1. Guess I should've mentioned that Rasmus also left Sunday's game with an injury and is on the shelf for a couple of more days.
