Arenas Faked Injury, Fined $50k

Gilbert Arenas sits next to rookie John Wall after faking an injury.
Evidently, Gilbert Arenas thought it was a good idea to fake an injury.  Financially, it was a terrible idea as he was fined $50,000 for his stupidity.  On the court, this may get even worst for Arenas

Arenas complained about his knee being sore and sat out a game earlier this week.

Afterwards, Arenas explained that he had faked the injury so guard Nick Young could get some more playing time.  Young scored 24 points against the Atlanta Hawks in the Wizards victory, but what in the world is Gilbert thinking?

He just came back from a season-ending suspension where he brought a gun into the arena and housed it in his locker.  So, rather than being a good citizen and just going out and playing basketball as hard as he can, Arenas tries to pull some sort of internal politics and fakes an injury so a young player he likes can he see more court-time?

Gilbert, wake up!  You can't be giving court-time away to anybody.  You need all the precious court-time you can get.  If you show that you are replaceable, the Wizards will just let you go.

And maybe that is what Arenas wants.  But, where would he go?  What team wants a shoot-first, selfish point guard who doesn't play any defense?  Also, you have to worry about him bringing guns to the work place and yapping to the media and on his blog.  (we actually enjoy his blog a lot, but if I was the GM of an NBA team, I would hate it).

Arenas admitted that he screwed up yet again, but the man just doesn't know how to keep himself out of the news.

"I screwed up again, so I just want to say sorry," he said. "I wasn't really thinking that this was going to be another media outburst. It's like everything I do now, someone, tit for tat, tries to blow it out of proportion."

Gilbert, here is a word of advice.  Shut up and just play basketball.

Otherwise, you are going to be backing up Ricky Rubio in Greece and you won't be in the NBA much longer.
