NFL Picks, Week 6

Brett Favre looking old!
NFL Football is the most popular sport in the world.

Its more popular than the MLB Playoffs, college football, and maybe even English Premier League soccer.  But, the NFL is so hard to figure out.

For instance, with one of the most talented set of skill players in recent memory, why are the Dallas Cowboys 1-3?

Why would Brett Favre, the most popular and talked about player in the NFL and possibly in sports history, show his junk to some nobody-girl who works for an NFL organization?

Most importantly, who is going to win when the overrated, underachieving, and depressing Cowboys and Vikings square-off to try and save their own individual seasons from spiraling down to oblivion?

That is the million dollar question, and thus, one that I don't care to try and figure out as both of these teams give me headaches.

But, we are going to pick some other games.

(3-1) Kansas City (+5) vs (3-2) Houston Texans
The Kansas City Chiefs made last week's contest an ugly one trying to stop Peyton Manning, and the Chiefs almost pulled it off.  Despite poor quarterback play from from Matt Cassel sporadically throughout the early part of the 2010 NFL season, the Chiefs have an over balanced and well-rounded team.

Houston is inconsistent and frustrating to be blunt.  The Texans could and should be 5-0 if it weren't for a couple of lackluster performances.  I'll take the points and the Chiefs on the road in a close game.  Houston 24 Kansas City 23.

(1-4) Detroit Lions (+10) vs (3-2) New York Giants

I don't think the Giants are that great of team.  Sure they have played great the past couple of weeks and have gotten after the quarterback with 13 sacks, but they lose focus pretty easily at times.

Which is exactly why I'm taking the points and the Lions, who have played well in 4 tough losses and are coming off stomping of the St. Louis Rams last week.  Detroit 28 New York Giants 24

(2-3) Oakland Raiders (+7) vs (0-5) San Francisco 49ers

I don't understand how Mike Singletary has a job (see my article after last week's loss).  If he loses this week at home against his Bay Area rivals, there is no doubt that he will have to be fired, especially after the 49ers owner came out and proclaimed that the team would make the playoffs.

And I think, despite being completely desperate, that San Francisco could lose this game.  How in the world does a team that hasn't even won a game get favored by 7 points.

I'm taking the points and the Raiders even though Jason Campbell is starting.  I think Oakland may win this game straight up.  Oakland 23 San Francisco 20

(3-2) New Orleans Saints vs (3-1) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+5)

Anytime a good team is getting points at home, you have to take them, right?

I will, as I think Josh Freeman is special and the Bucs are playing good football.  The Saints need Reggie Bush back quick!  Tampa Bay 27 New Orleans 24

I may not ever figure out why Brett Favre sent that girl those picture, but lets see if I figured out these games today.
