Padraig Harrington Ends 2 Year Drought

Padraig Harrington was on fire during 2008, winning the PGA Tour Player of the Year honor.  It was a year in which he succesfully defended his U.S. Open Championship by winning the prestigious tournament for the second time.

Since then, Harrington, a member of Europe's 2010 Ryder Cup team, hasn't done much winning.

It had been nearly two years since "Paddy" had won a tournament, that was until this past weekend, when Harrington won the Asian Tour's Iskander Johor Open by three shots.

Afterwards, Harrington spoke of the stuggles of the past two golf seasons and the pressure to get back to winning.

"Two years is a long time, especially when you're reminded every week you play," said Harrington, part of Europe's Ryder Cup winning team. "It's nice and very important for me to win. It's somewhat a monkey off your back."

Harrington, despite not winning for two years, was certainly confident this week.

"There's no doubt that it was my week to win," he said. "If you had followed me for the four days, I don't think anyone would have questioned that my name was written on the trophy before the tournament started. ... I hit some good shots and had a few breaks."

If Harrington is truly back on track, he is completely capable of competing with Tiger Woods, Lee Westwood, and the other vying to be the number one golfer in the world.

Just further proof that the power in golf is in Europe's hands.
