Lincecum vs Halladay

The National League Championship Series begins in Philadelphia on Saturday.  For once, the hype for this series may have made the New York Yankees an afterthought, and there is only one reason why.

Lincecum vs. Halladay.

Any baseball purist is salivating at the chance to watch these two aces go head-to-head.

Tim Lincecum will do his best to out-duel
Philadelphia Phillies Ace Roy Halladay
Tim Lincecum is the two-time defending National League Cy Young Award winner and is coming off a dominating 14 K performance in the first round of the playoffs against the Atlanta Braves.

Quite impressive, but not impressive enough when you stack it up against Roy Halladay, a former American League Cy Young Award winner and likely this year's NL Cy Young, threw a no-hitter in his first ever playoff in Philadelphia's first round series against the Cincinnati Reds.

How lucky are we?

This match-up is special.  It is a once in a lifetime opportunity to watch two of the best in the game go at on the biggest stage.

San Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy knows its a big deal.

"It's going to be a tremendous matchup," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Friday. "You have two of the best pitchers in the game. We have all the respect for Halladay. Tremendous command in the strike zone, great stuff, great competitor. And, we have a good one going, too. Two different styles. Their guy's probably a little bit more conventional than Tim with his unique delivery. But when it comes down to it, he's in the same position. They have four-plus pitches they can throw at any time with good command."

Bochy is exactly right.  And hopefully, if the baseball god's on our side, we'll see a 7 game series, with these two mega-stars toeing the rubber against each other 3 times.
