The Man Speak's Heisman Ballot

The Man Speak just wants to be on the record on who they would vote for on tonight's Heisman.  The announcement will come tonight on ESPN, and not that we have a vote or anybody would consider even giving us a vote, we just want to put it out there so you can banter amongst yourselves.

1. Ndamukong Suh - Nebraska - Senior - DT
The man is a beast.  Likely a top 3 pick in this year's NFL draft, his performance against Texas in the Big 12 Championship game and aboslute domination on the Texas offensive line and Colt McCoy makes him the favorite.  The award is suppose to go the best player in college football right?  Well, he has won the Chuck Bednarick Award, Bronco Nagurski Award, Outland Trophy, and Vince Lombardi/Rotary Award this year.  He should add the 2009 Heisman to that already impressive trophy case.
He has been the best QB all season and one of the top QBs in football throughout his entire career.  He had the award won, well, until he had to play against Suh.  He will be a great pro (see Tom Brady, Drew Brees for comparisons).

3. Toby Gerhardt - Stanford - Junior - RB
Led the nation in rushing yards and led the Cardinal to a 8-4 record.  He was a work-horse all year and has helped put Stanford on the map and Coach Jim Harbaugh become a perrenial winner.

4. Danario Alexander - Missouri - Senior - WR
Was the best player on his team and the best player in the country you don't know about.  Led the nation in receiving yards, second in receptions, and fifth in touchdowns.  Was the only weapon an 8-4 Missouri team had all year.  Would more people know him is Mizzou wer 9-3 or 10-2?  Most likely yes!

5. Tim Tebow - Florida - Senior - QB
Maybe one of the best college football players of all time.  Had a great season on a great team, but this year, and maybe because his previous two were so good, he didn't do enough to get up the Heisman board.  Good luck to him in the pros as it truly has been a pleasure watching him as a college football player.

Not on my ballot is sophomore running back from Alabama Mark Ingram.  He is a heck of a back and had a great year, but there are two reason I didn't include him in my Top 5.

1. He is only a sophomore, and there were upper-classman more deserving.

2. He wasn't the best player on his team.

Sure he was the best player on offense for the Crimson Tide, but the leader and most talented player on number one ranked Alabama was Junior linebacker Rolando McClain, who led the nation's number one defense and took home the Butkus Award, which goes to the number one linebacker in the country.  So, I had to leave Ingram off my unofficial and unimportant ballot.

Should be exciting to see who actually takes the award home tonight!

Cruddy.
