Jeff Overton eyes a putt as he gets soaked on Friday during play at the 2010 Ryder Cup |
Prior to the tournament, one of the many stories was the involvement of Corey Pavin's wife with the U.S. side. Among her responsibilities was to pick out the uniforms and apparel that the U.S. team is wearing.
Combine the two stories and you have a disaster that occurred on the first day of play over in Wales. The Rain gear has been terrible and doesn't do its job. IT DOESN'T REPEL RAIN!
Despite leading 6-4 through the end of Saturday play, the rain suits dominated the talk of the tournament as play was halted on Friday due to unruly course conditions.
"We were disappointed with the performance of them and we just fixed it," captain Corey Pavin. "They were not doing what we wanted them to do, so we went out and bought some more waterproofs."
Rory McIlroy, who had made comments earlier this year about how excited he was about the possibility of squaring off against Tiger Woods in this years tournament, started talking again too, this time on twitter.
"Just have to say our waterproofs are performing very well!"
What a disaster for the American side. Not only did Mrs Pavin pick out some ugly uniforms, but the apparel doesn't even do the job it is suppose to. What an embarrassment for Team U.S.A.
Encouraging though, is that the players seem to be overcoming not only the fault garb, but its ugliness. Check out how ugly the uniforms are for U.S.A.
Aren't the colors of United States red, white, and blue? Last time I checked purple wasn't a color on the American flag.
Despite these ugly colors, the Americans are in decent position to win this years Ryder Cup. Just remember to watch the golf, not the uniforms.
Lets hope for an American victory on Sunday! And also, dry weather!
