Albert Haynewsorth recently sat down in an interview with ESPNs Sarah Walsh and he had some pretty interesting things to say.
Here is a brief synopsis of the interview.
On his mindset when he came to Washington as a free agent prior the 2009 season:
"I wanted to be the greatest defensive lineman ever to play the game."
On his decision to take a $21 million bonus from the Redskins this off season:
"Yeah, check sat at my house for a couple weeks before I cashed it. I was weighing my options about what I should do. ... Do you want to take this? Do you want to commit yourself to playing a 3-4 [defense]? Do you want to go somewhere else and try again?"
On how he thinks Redskins fans perceive him:
"Some people think I'm off my rocker. Some think I'm just a guy who doesn't want to do anything. Some think I'm a nice guy. Lot of different perceptions but if you meet me you will understand I am a good person."
On his relationship with Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan:
"Everyone thinks we're standing in a long hallway, with gun holsters, ready to draw on each other. Nothing like that. ... We're completely fine."
For Haynesworth and the Redskins sake, Albert better buy-in to the system and start making plays, because if he doesn't, things will not be fine with Coach Shanahan and the Redskins will miss the playoffs yet again.
