NBA Speak: Marion to Come Off Bench, Harrington Injures Foot

Shawn Marion OK Coming Off Mavs Bench
Shawn Marion, former member of Team USA and four time NBA All-Star, says he is ok with coming off the Dallas Mavericks bench.

"It's an adjustment," Marion said. "It was interesting, but at the same time, it was cool. We've got to come in with energy and do what we've got to do to get the team back on track. We did that."

While it may be an adjustment, having the Matrix come off the bench makes the Mavericks one of the deepest teams in basketball. And Shawn Marion knows it.

"This can work," Marion said. "We've just got to work on it more so I can get comfortable with it and adjusted to it, because I've never done it before. But whatever it takes to win, that's what it's about."

Al Harrington Injures Foot

Just 79 seconds into his Denver Nuggetts debut, Al Harrington limped off of the court in Denver's pre-season match-up with the Portland Trailblazers at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado.

After an MRI on Saturday, the Denver Nuggetts revealed that Harrington tore the plantar fascia muscle in his foot.  Harrington, who was acquired to start in place of the injured Kenyon Martin, will likely miss two weeks with the injury.  The Nuggetts medical staff says that he should be ready for the Nuggetts season opener.

Harrington, who is a very underrated offensive player (17.7 PPG, 5.6 RPG, 140 3PM), will be missed.  He figures to stretch the floor to give Carmelo Anthony more room to work and an outlet to help with double teams.

Magic Open New Building With Win

The Orlando Magic and Dwight Howard have a new home.  Call it the "House of Howard" if you will.

The Magic made sure that the first game in the new building was a success, crushing the New Orleans Hornets 135-81 in a pre-season match-up.  Howard had 12 points and 11 rebounds and Magic forward Rashard Lewis netted 23 points, but the real story was the opening of the new building.  The first game in the new building brought Magic team president Alex Martin to tears.

"I'm overwhelmed because everybody has worked so hard and a lot of people deserve a lot of credit," Martins said before tip-off, his voice cracking. "I just think about the next 50 years and all of the great memories that are going to be created in this building."

Former NBA All-Star Steve Francis Arrested

Steve Francis was arrested in the Terminal 7 lobby of the Los Angeles International Airport on Thursday night for public drunkenness.

Currently a free agent after being waived by the Memphis Grizzlies last season, it is unlikely the four time all-star will be able to find a home for the upcoming season.
