Calvin Johnson is Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford's favorite target. |
"Once Matt gets rolling and gets his hot hand, he's throwing darts out there and that's what he was doing,'' Johnson said. "Once he gets going, it's hard for him to miss. And I'm a big target for him so it's good for both of us.''
Stafford sure got going, throwing 4 touchdown passes in his return to the line-up, but it was Johnson who made the key catch late in the 4th quarter to seal the victory for the Lions. But a bigger key for the Lions was how available Johnson made himself against the Redskins.
Johnson, sometimes known as "Megatron" around the NFL, hauled in 9 catches for 101 yards, including 3 huge touchdown catches to seal the victory for the Lions.
Because of his clutch pefromance, Calvin Johnson has been named this week's ManSpeak NFL Player of the Week.
When talking about the up and coming Lions, whose focal point is squarely on the backs of Stafford and Johnson, Stafford knew that the Redskin game was huge in terms of team's growth.
"It was important, it was a big game for us. It's a game we needed to win and we treated it like that,'' said Stafford.
These two will continue to hook up for touchdowns in the future providing both can stay healthy. Because of his outstanding performance
