Paul Pierce Scores 20,000th Point for Boston Celtics

Paul Pierce has played his entire 12 year NBA career as a
member of the Boston Celtics
Paul Pierce notched his 20,000th point for the Boston Celtics in their 105-102 victory over the Milwaulkee Bucks on Wednesday evening.

Pierce finished the game with 28 points, scoring his 20,000th point on a free throw with 13.3 seconds left to help seal the victory and cement his name in NBA history, something which Pierce will never forget.

"That was an emotional moment for me. It was tough for me to swallow at that point," he said. "You don't see that often that a player accomplishes the feat with one team. Five years ago, I would never have imagined I would score 20,000 points in a Celtics jersey. I was a disgruntled player."

Disgruntled no longer, after winning an NBA championship 3 seasons ago and helping lead the Celtics to the NBA Finals again last year, Pierce is happy now in Boston.

How could he not be happy?  Rajon Rondo has assumed leadership ability of this ball club, and Pierce, the longest tenured Celtic, is his co-captain.  Couple that with one of the best coaches in the league in Doc Rivers and a supporting cast that includes the charismatic Kevin Garnett, sharp-shooter Ray Allen, and long-time dominating center Shaquille O'Neal, and Pierce should be happy for years to come.

Good for Pierce, who has been as tough a player in the NBA as there is.  He had to endure some brutal seasons in Boston before realizing the most recent prosperity.

Everything Pierce accomplishes he will deserve.  He is not physically gifted like some of the other more popular players in the NBA, but he is smart, works hard, and has a style of play that few can adjust too.

Now that Pierce has gotten 20,000 points out of the way, how many more can this life-time Boston Celtic pour in for this proud franchise.

However many, Pierce will do it his own way.
