TCU Horned Frogs Hop over Utah

LAS VEGAS - OCTOBER 30: Quarterback Andy Dalton of the Texas Christian University Horned Frogs runs for yardage against the UNLV Rebels at Sam Boyd Stadium October 30, 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada. TCU won 48-6. (Photo by Ethan Miller/Getty Images) It was billed as a classic match-up between two small schools out of the Western Athletic Conference.

Then, TCU crushed the Utes in a way few could imagine.

TCU won the game 47-7 over Utah, but more importantly, they may have won over the hearts of analysts who don't think a non-BCS school should have the right to play for a BCS National Championship.

TCU destroyed Utah in every facet of the game, on the biggest stage, in a key situation.  While Utah is no Alabama or Oklahoma, they have been a tremendous team over the past 5 seasons.

Such an impressive showing by TCU proves that they belong in the National Championship discussion.

TCU made the Utes look like little Indians dressed up for Halloween.

The Horned Frogs shouldn't leap ahead of Auburn, who defeated Chattanooga easily, or Oregon, who has the most explosive offense on the planet, but they have firmly placed themselves as the third best team in the country at this point and TCU's quarterback Andy Dalton is confident about it after yesterday's victory.

"We showed we can play with anybody," he said.

Sure, both Auburn and Oregon deserve to be in the National Championship game under the current BCS system.  But don't you want to see TCU line it up against these two powers?

Don't you want to see TCU's top ranked defense, who is allowing opponents to score 8.5 points per game, given the opportunity to try and stymie the powerful Auburn Tigers and Oregon Ducks offenses, who rank number one and two in total offense respectively in the nation?

If Oregon or Auburn slip up, they may get their opportunity.

Until then, TCU will sit in third place.  Waiting.
