If you are a fan of the Miami Heat circus, you likely were introduced to Paul Millsap very quickly after the Heat lost on their home court to the Utah Jazz 116-114.
"I guess when it rains, it pours," Millsap said.
Just a bit of an understatement by Millsap, who poured in 46 points for the Jazz, including 11 points in the last 28 seconds, to help the Jazz improve to 4-3 on the young season.
Millsap finished the night with 9 rebounds and shot 19-28 from the floor including hit all 3 of his attempts from 3 point range, something that surprised his opponent.
"I'd never seen him hit a 3 before," Miami Heat forward Chris Bosh said.
So who is Paul Millsap? Why did he make Chris Bosh look irrelevant yet again for the Miami Heat?
Millsap is the guy that made Carlos Boozer, who left Utah this past off-season as a free agent, expendable.
While Boozer collects his check and rides the pine with an injury in Chicago, Millsap has slipped into the starters role at power forward for the Jazz and has quickly become a go-to guy for talented point guard Deron Williams.
Long time Jazz coach Jerry Sloan is a believer in Millsap's work ethic and determination, something that fits right along with his coaching style.
After tonight, Sloan likes the way Millsap can score the ball too.
Millsap, in his fourth season out of Louisiana Tech, is averaging 20.3 points per game and 11.2 rebounds per game, improving on career numbers of 10.1 points and 6.6 rebounds.
And Millsap will only continue to get better, quickly letting Jazz fans get use to roller in the Jazz patented pick and roll offense.
Millsap burned the Heat tonight.
He likely will continue set the league on fire now that he is getting a full time chance as a starter.
