NFL Picks - Week 15

Kansas City Chiefs quarter back Matt Cassel scrambles away from Seattle Seahawks defensive tackle Chris Clemons in the third quarter on Sunday November 28, 2010 at Qwest Field in Seattle. Cassel completed 22 of 32 passes for 233 yrads and four touchdowns as the Chiefs beat the Seahawks 42-24. (UPI /Jim Bryant) Photo via Newscom
It looks like Matt Cassel will play today against the St. Louis Rams, but
will he be running for his life on the road at the Edward Jones Dome?
There are at least 8 games on the schedule today that have direct impacts on whether teams can clinch playoff spots or stay alive and need some help and somehow sneak in.

Lets see if we can handicap some of these contests against the spread.

(11-2) Atlanta Falcons vs (6-7) Seattle Seahawks (+7)

Seattle is fighting for their playoff lives in the dreadful NFC West.  But the Falcons, clearly the better team in this game, have to travel across the entire country to the rainy Pacific Northwest, which is never an easy trip.

I think Matt Ryan and Roddy White and company pull out a win on the road, but it will be a close game, so I'm taking Seattle and the points.  Atlanta 24 Seattle 20

Matt Cassel is rumored to be playing, despite having emergency surgery less than 14 days ago.  Cassel wont be 100%, but the Chiefs running game led by Jamaal Charles will.  This a must win game for the Rams though to ensure they win the NFC West and secure a playoff spot.

Sam Bradford and company have played 3 consecutive road games.  I think the rookie comes up huge in this monster game between division leaders.  I'm taking the Rams to cover.  St. Louis 24 Kansas City 17

Easily the most intriguing match-up this week between two of the NFL's top teams.

The defending Super Bowl Champs have looked like the defending Champs of late.  Meanwhile Ray Lewis and the Baltimore defense have looked like what they are too, which is old.

I look for an exciting game that will turn into a shootout.  New Orleans wins on the road.  New Orleans 33 Baltimore 30
