Steven Jackson has Surgery on Finger

Steven Jackson is the St. Louis Rams franchise
leader in rushing yards.
On Sunday, St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson broke the Rams franchise record for rushing yards, passing Hall of Famer Erik Dickerson during the Rams 18-17 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The franchise rushing record wasn't the only thing Jackson broke.  He also broke his finger.

Jackson, easily the most overlooked running back of the past 6 plus season, wasn't satisfied with just breaking the franchise record in rushing yards.  He wanted a win, and has made it his mission to lead the Rams from the cellar of NFC West to playoff contenders.

On Sunday, the Rams came up short.

"I just really wish we were able to cap it off with a win. It's kind of hard to be celebrating something about individual success when it's a team sport."

Jackson finished the game with 110 yards on 22 carries and with 7,324 yards in his career.

But, the Rams finished the game with a loss.  And Jackson finished the game with a broken finger.

Jackson confirmed that he had surgery on the finger through his Twitter account on Monday.

"It has been a busy day. Yes, I had surgery on my ring finger but I shouldn't miss a beat," he wrote.

Hopefully for the Rams, the franchise's leader in rushing yards can recover quickly as the Rams look to get back .500 as they square off at home in the Edward Jones dome against the 1-6 Carolina Panthers.
