NFL Picks, Week 5

Kevin Kolb will try and lead his Eagles to victory on the
road against the win-less San Francisco 49ers
The NFL season is a long haul.  The 16 game schedule can be brutal, as teams face injury and uncertainty.  Like any other sport, football teams and players face their ups and downs.

So do I as I try to pick games.  Last week I went just 2-2, hardly inspirational and looking for answers and help in who to pick this week.  Lets see how I do.

(2-2) Philadelphia Eagles (+3.5) vs (0-4) San Francisco 49ers

Kevin Kolb is not any good.  In his first start since the Michael Vick injury, he will playing on the road against a team desperate to turn it around, and that will spell trouble for Kolb against the 49ers defense.

The 49ers are just two games out in the NFC West.  Could this be the beginning of the turn-around?  I think its a start.  San Francisco 24 Philadelphia 13

(2-2) San Diego Chargers vs (1-3) Oakland Raiders (+7)

I know Oakland is a bad team.  A really bad team.  But I'm not convinced that the Chargers are good enough, or consistent enough to go on the road and cover a 7 point spread.  I'm taking the points in the Raiders, although I think the Chargers still win the ball game.  San Diego 27 Oakland 23

(2-2) Denver Broncos (+7.5) vs (3-1) Baltimore Ravens

Baltimore is the ugliest 3-1 in the history of the NFL, and that is probably okay with Ray Lewis and company.  That being said, I think the ugliness continues.  I think the Ravens win at home, but they don't muster enough points to cover this spread.  Baltimore 23 Denver 16

(3-0) Kansas City Chiefs (+7.5) vs (2-2) Indianapolis Colts

The Chiefs are the only undefeated team left standing, yet they are 7.5 point dogs to a Colts team that lost a game on the road last week to a horrible Jaguars team.

The Chiefs can run the ball behind Thomas Jones and Jamal Charles and will be able to control the clock much like the Jaguars did against Peyton Manning's Colts last week.  I'm taking the points and the Chiefs and I wouldn't be surprised to see them win straight up.  Kansas City 27 Indianapolis 24

(2-2) St. Louis Rams (+3) vs (0-4) Detroit Lions

The Rams, coming of of two impressive victories on the road behind their sensational rookie QB Sam Bradford will try their luck on the road against a Lions team who has played tough in 4 losses to begin the season.  This may be the most exciting game of the week even though these two teams are low profile.

I think "Sam the Ram" keeps it going for St. Louis, but of course, I'll take the points to be safe.  St. Louis 23 Detroit 14

Well, lets play some football.

  1. One extra.... I'll also take the Titans and the points (+7) against the Cowboys.

Lets go Rams, Titans, Chiefs, Broncos, Raiders, and 49ers!
