Ryder Cup Finale Delayed Until Monday

European Captain Colin Montgomeries team has dominated
play at the 2010 Ryder Cup
All of the rain that pelted Celtic Manor Resort in City of Newport, Wales has caused the schedule to fall behind and has forced the singles matches originally scheduled for Sunday to be played on Monday.

Unfortunately, the singles matches may not matter much for the U.S.

The Americans are in a bad position, as the team did not win a single match during Sunday's course of play and currently trail the Europeans 9 1/2 to 6 1/2.

And its clear that the Europeans have all of the momentum.

"In my time -- 20 years since I've been playing Ryder Cup -- this is one of the greatest days for European golf we've ever had," European captain Colin Montgomerie said. "To run a two-point deficit into a three-point lead was quite amazing. To stop America from winning a match, just fantastic."

Montgomerie also recognizes that his team is a confident bunch.

"We know the Americans are going to come out fast," he said. "But we are going to go out faster."

Montgomery also knows that this tournament is not over and he is pushing his guys hard to get it done.

"All this would be pointless today if this isn't continued tomorrow," Montgomerie said. "Yes, we are tired. The USA team must be tired, as well. But there's no resting here for our team. We are going here as if it's tied to try and win the singles session. That's our goal. And there will be nobody backing down from that goal tomorrow."

Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker look on at the 2010
Ryder Cup during a defeat to the Europeans on Sunday
Despite Montgomery's worries, I don't think the Europeans will have a problem taking home the 2010 Ryder Cup.

The Americans, in their hideous uniforms, just aren't playing well, and it starts with their leaders Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson.

Mickelson, paired up today with rookie sensation Ricke Fowler, lost today to PGA Champion Martin Kaymer and his partner Ian Poulter.  Mickelson has not contributed a single point for the Americans.

Meanwhile, Woods has been almost equally as bad, losing 6 and 5 today in a match where he was partnered with Steve Stricker against Europeans Lee Westwood and Luke Donald.  Woods and Stricker had never lost when paired together and this rout was the worst of the entire week.

The terrible play by the number 1 and 2 player's in the world really defines what has been a rather embarrassing showing at the Ryder Cup this year.

Its not looking good for the Americans.  Lets hope for a minor miracle comeback on Monday.
